Los Angeles might be the capital of conspicuous consumption, but the other cliché about “La La Land”—that it’s a cultural wasteland—couldn’t be further from the truth. LINA LECARO is the nightlife columnist for the LA Weekly. She has been patrolling Los Angeles’ most decadent after dark dens and its grungiest grottos with equal aplomb for over twenty years (i.e. before she could actually drink legally). A born and bred Angeleno, she’s no angel when it comes to digging deep into LA’s most harrowing drunkard-approved hovels . She might prefer her cocktails sweet, but her favorite bars (and barflys) have always been anything but.
Lina will be at the event to sign her book. There will be free Sino Tequila along with other liquor and food. All dive-bar hoppers, nightlife fans and lovers of Los Angeles are welcome.
In 2004, The Dollyrots first album “Eat My Heart Out” was released as a vinyl LP on Dionysus Records and CD on Lookout / Panic Button Records. Shortly after the album’s release, both versions sold out. This week, Dionysus Records in conjunction with The Dollyrots have pressed up 500 copies of “Eat My Heart Out” on blue and white opaque vinyl with a download coupon which includes the entire album plus three bonus B sides, just in time for their tour supporting The Buzzcocks. Some of the pressing will be sold on tour, some will go into distribution and a few will be sold via Dionysus Mail-Order.
The Dollyrots are inspired by the early ’60s Brill Building song-writers and the related girl-group sound of the same era, with the attitude and attack of The Ramones. Their current albums are on Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records.

THE DOLLYROTS TOUR SUPPORTING THE BUZZCOCKS
Just released on El Beasto Records, Spain: The Satelliters “Lost In Time” b/w “Try It Out“ 7″ single. “Lost In Time” is a collabration between ’60s garage legend Neil Ford of Neil Ford and The Fanatics, and Steve Sunrise of The Satelliters. Neil wrote the lyrics in 1969 after he left The Fanatics, and Steve put them to music in 2009. “Try It Out” is a 2:11 fuzzfest of 60s/00s garage punk extreme! The record is pressed on red and black splatter vinyl with a beautiful, thick picture sleeve and protective black inner sleeve. A quality artifact, indeed!

Bobby Green (coined the Walt Disney of Los Angeles area theme bars) has decided he’s bored with the theme of Silver Lake watering hole Stinker’s Truck Stop. So, to celebrate the birth of a brand new bar, Bobby has decided to auction off all the custom designed skunk, truck stop, and 70′s themed paraphernalia from the bar. Items to be sold include the memorable skunk butts, a late 70′s Trans Am hood, skunk dioramas, actual CB radios and of course more Burt Reynolds items than anyone needs. This is the perfect opportunity for collectors of kitsch or anyone looking to outfit their “Man Zone” with that vintage White Line Fever poster or a bathroom condom machine. The auction will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Viewing for all items begins at 8:00 p.m. with the festive, Colt 45 infused, live auction starting at 9:00 p.m. The event will also feature giveaways such as Stinker’s air fresheners, stickers, t-shirts trucker, hats. Also on hand to entertain the crowd will be DJs and an appearance by Stinker himself.
Stinkers invites everyone to come down and enjoy spraying skunk butts and loud trucker horns! Who knows what the next incarnation the 1933 Group will bring to their Silver Lake local.
