8/28: Over Under Sideways Down on LuxuriaMusic.com returns LIVE!

Wed, August 28 – Over Under Sideways Down returns LIVE on LuxuriaMusic.com

OUSD_Aug_28

This coming Wednesday, I’ll be returning to the LuxuriaMusicstudios, recovered from Tiki Oasis and Surf Guitar 101, for my first live Over Under Sideways Down in over a month, bringing you Part III of “Music from the Random Stacks of Records in my Living Room.”  The show feature a variety of new acquisitions plus gems pulled from my music library and for whatever reason, not yet filed away, including a mixture of music from loud to lite to ludicrous – from rock to raga to ridiculous. I will also be doing a segment of tracks from recent as well as upcoming, as-of-yet Dionysus Records releases with tracks by Creepxotica, The Satelliters, The Gears, Ruby Dee and The Snakehandlers, The Skip Heller Combo, The Dukes of Hamburg, Replikas, Jason Lee and the R.I.P. Blackeyed Soul Club

The Blackeyed Soul Club is a fun underground Sixties Soul / Rock ‘n’ roll club based at The Satellite. Run by DJ’s Jason Pandora and Howie Pyro who are looking for a way to give Los Angeles the kind of club where Mods, Rockers and anyone with an ear for good music and sharp style can come and DANCE to the obscure, great and downright delicious vinyl monsters that have been lighting up dance floors, and leading the way for DJ’s all over the globe.

The records played range from the late 50s greasy RnB, to the Storming Soul of the 60s, to US Garage and British Beat. Tunes that slipped through the cracks the first time around, that are being resurrected by the most discerning. The club values itself on assembling a DJ roster with one thing in mind – the dance floor. Alongside the rare records that never made it, you’re likely to hear someone dropping those heavy Motown sides that you know and love. The difference is, in this mix all these tunes sound as relevant as the day they were first released.

The Blackeyed Soul Club is a place for vinyl purists, it’s a place for Mods, Rockabilly kids, Indie types but most of all it is for those who want to come, dance, and party without being patronized or intimidated by the usual ‘sixties’ scenes. It’s for anybody and everybody.

Over Under Sideways Down LuxuriaMusic.com – Robert Drasnin

On July 4, exotica and TV/film music legend Robert Drasnin appeared on Over Under Sideways Down episode III on LuxuriaMusic.com  for an in-depth interview about his incredible musical history. Robert brought in numerous samples of music he played on, composed and arranged and told some great stories including one about The Grateful Dead’s involvement in the re-vamped Twilight Zone series.

Here is a link for the show podcast – listen online or download!

Robert Dransnin on Luxuria July 4 and LuxuriaMusic Summer T-Shirts!

Tune in to this week’s Over Under Sideways Down on LuxuriaMusic.com. Show host Lee Joseph will feature special guest, the legendary Robert Drasnin. Though known by many exotica fans from the mid-90s reissue of his previously obscure 1960 Voodoo release (also known as Percussion Exotique,) Robert has had a long career as a jazz musician, composer, arranger and director of music for television and film, and is currently a music teacher at UCLA. Robert has worked on shows such as The Twilight Zone, Mission: Impossible, Wild Wild West, Lost In Space, Time Tunnel, Mannix, The Man From Uncle, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and many others — in fact this is a very partial list – for the full story, check out his IMDb page.

Bob will talk about Voodoo and his exotica comeback, Voodoo II but will focus this interview on his days in television and film. He will be bringing in cues and underscores which have never been played publicly detached from the programs and films they were written and composed for.

So tune in to Over Under Sideways Down this Wednesday, July Fourth at 3pm – 5 pm. If you miss the show – you can go to the LuxuriaMusic site and download a podcast.
