In September, Jesika von Rabbit, bassist Lee Joseph and von Rabbit’s dancers The Grundles opened 12 sold out shows for Eagles of Death Metal’s “Zipper Down” tour in the mid-west, south and East Coast. The packed rooms all responded enthusiastically to von Rabbit’s set which included songs from her recently released “Journey Mitchell” album (self released CD and Digital, vinyl LP on Dionysus Records), a twisted, searing industrial electro version of Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places” and a couple of von Rabbit’s country songs which were recorded by Gram Rabbit.

The Blackeyed Soul Club is a fun underground Sixties Soul / Rock ‘n’ roll club based at The Satellite. Run by DJ’s Jason Pandora and Howie Pyro who are looking for a way to give Los Angeles the kind of club where Mods, Rockers and anyone with an ear for good music and sharp style can come and DANCE to the obscure, great and downright delicious vinyl monsters that have been lighting up dance floors, and leading the way for DJ’s all over the globe.

The records played range from the late 50s greasy RnB, to the Storming Soul of the 60s, to US Garage and British Beat. To Howie’s dismay, we played a Led Zeppelin cover on the show though Los Commandos did a great job of turning “Moby Dick” (with a riff stolen from Sleepy John Estes)  into a sloppy and inept teen garage instrumental which was further twisted with the infamous Intoxica echo over most of the really sloppy drum solo.
