New Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited release, Music from the 6th Floor

It’s been seven years since the last Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited album was released. On Friday, September 9, a new Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited release will be available! Music from the 6th Floor was written and recorded at their secret lair in a high-rise building somewhere in the foothills of the Jura Mountains. The release contains 14 original and unique tracks will whisk you away into a different dimension full of suspense, romance, and adventure. The album will available on vinyl (first pressing on special color vinyl) with a free digital download code, CD, and digital via iTunes, Amazon, etc.

Tiki Oasis 16:  Party on Monster Island  kicks off tonight at Bali Hai in San Diego with THREE Dionysus artists! Start time is 6 PM with Jason Lee and the R.I.P. Tides, Creepxotica featuring Seattle’s multi-octave voice, Rachel DeShon, doing a tribute to Yma Sumac, and The Alika Lyman Group, playing a tribute to Alika’s uncle, Arthur Lyman who played the venue several times during his lifetime. Both Creepxotia and Jason Lee and the R.I.P. Tides are fresh from the recording studio where they have completed tracks for their new Dionysus Releases. Headlining the night will be The Netherlands’ The Phantom 4 with guest, surf legend John Blair!

The Creepy Creeps will be co-headlining the event on Saturday opening for The Sonics who will feature in their line-up Jake Cavaliere formerly of Dionysus’ 90s SoCal surf legends The Bomboras, and Evan Foster of  Seattle surf legends, The Boss Martians!

Jesika von Rabbit will be debuting two new songs, including “I’m a Dog at a Human Party” which she is currently shooting a video for with director Jessica Janos. von Rabbit and Spindrift’s Kirpatrick Thomas have scored and recorded music for a full-length feature, “Pretty Face”, also directed by Jessica Janos.

The Martini Kings only vinyl album, Palm Springs Serenade  has been repressed on transparent red 180 gram vinyl! This will be the final run of this album, once these 500 LPs are gone the title will be deleted so grab now!

Palm Springs Serenade is a vinyl compilation of the group’s favorite tracks from numerous The Martini Kings CDs, and features a guest appearance by Buddy Greco. The cover is illustrated by SHAG, with liner notes by Cocktail Nation’s Koop Kooper, printed on a thick, old-style LP jacket called “tip-on” which consists of slicks glued on board.  The LP was cut on a vintage Scully lathe using a classic Westrex 3D cutter head. The album is packaged in a poly sleeve and includes a free digital download code. The first pressings of this LP were 400 black 180 gram vinyl and 100 clear vinyl.

The Martini Kings will be performing at Don the Beachcomber on Friday, November 7 with the Hukilau Hot Shots and DJ Senior Amor!

Queen of the High Desert, Jesika von Rabbit, will be supporting Eagles of Death Metal on the Midwest / East Coast leg of their 2015 worldwide tour. von Rabbit will be performing songs from her recently released Journey Mitchell album.

Prior to the Eagles of Death Metal dates, von Rabbit will grace her local desert following with two shows, including the Campout 11 fest with Cracker and Camper van Beethoven at her home base, Pappy and Harriet’s.

Way back in the 90s, Dionysus Records had a marvelous Philly punk group on its’ Hell Yeah label called Thorazine. We did two LPs and two 7″ with them, and even with the miles between Thorazine and the label – due to their constant touring and a couple of visits to Philly by Dionysus staff, the group, myself and everyone else at label got to spend quite a bit of time together. Those were memorable times for all of us! Thorazine have reformed and are starting their first tour since 1999 right here in Los Angeles!! They are going to be posting here to update us about their tour as it is happening.  Tonight August 14th you can catch them at Cafe Nela at 1906 Cypress Ave, Los Angeles with Symbol Six and God Bless America (Portland) and Author Michael Essington will be signing his new book:BORN FRUSTRATED: A MEMOIR.  9pm

Touring again after sixteen years is harder and easier all at the same time. The internet was in it’s infancy in the 90’s and booking a show often meant endless long distance phone calls which cost more than local calls.  Now you can message promoters from where ever you are via social media.  It was harder to book because well half the band are parenting of the same two kids.  We all have grown up jobs and responsibilities but we still made it work because we love Thorazine. We love to play and we love to play as much as we can, and as far from home as possible.  It is what the band was founded on, being our very first demo was called, Gettin’ Outta Philly.

This time around I have learned to savor the time with the Thorazine family.  Rehearsals are something we look forward to all week and this tour has become a family vacation to see our far flung people who have stayed in our lives for so many years like Lee and the Dionysus crew and meet new people who have yet to get the intense Thorazine experience.   Symbol Six who we are playing with tonight at Café Nela in Los Angeles were just in Philly two weeks ago and we had a great time at their show. It will be good to see them on their own turf. Really all of this is happening like it is all a dream.  A really good dream I never want to wake up from. See you all out here on the road!

The Beachcomber Trio “Live at Kahiki 1965” limited blue vinyl repress
Previously unreleased until 2010, this long-awaited LP is a live recording of the house band at the legendary Kahiki restaurant. It’s like you are sitting at the bar enjoying a Mai Tai while listening to Marsh Padilla and company play a set of Latin Jazz/Hawaiian/Lounge inspired exotica! The Avengers VI “Real Cool Hits” limited white vinyl repress
The Avengers VI were a clean-cut surf band from Anaheim, Calif., whose one and only album, Real Cool Hits, was issued in 1966 as a promo for Good Humor ice cream. The group’s name wasn’t even mentioned on the original cover although it was pictured on the kick drum. The group’s repertoire, which encompassed covers of popular surf instrumentals, mood music, movie themes and some first rate originals, attracted both teens and adults to their appearances in southern California. The long-out of print Bacchus Archives vinyl reissue has itself become collectible, bringing prices of $30 and up, which is why we’ve decided to repress this gem, in an edition of 500 on white vinyl! The Surf Teens “Surf Mania” limited clear vinyl repress
A reissue of the fantastic, but hopelessly rare 1963 album by  Central Californian teens under the guidance of The Revels’ Norman Knowles. Includes five previously unreleased tracks and takes from master tapes and one from a rare 45! The Bacchus Archives LP has been out of print for a number of years.
